10 Best Easy Herbal Teas to Make for ALL the Reasons (To Relax, for Energy, to Detox, to Sleep, and LOTS More!)

Before I started really learning about herbs seriously, I loved to drink those herbal teas you'd find in the stores---you know, the stale old tea bags. Little did I know that besides being stale, they are often filled with chemical flavorings and were actually not doing my body any favors. So I started creating my own easy and healthy fresh herbal tea blends with just a couple of herbs each. Today, I’m sharing my pairings with you here!

You can start making your own tea blends for all kinds of reasons, like digestion, sleep, energy, detoxifying and lots more, and these tea pairings will get you started on a love of herbal tea!

I love my herbs. I'm so grateful for the ability to learn about them and my growing knowledge of how plants can indeed be my medicine. I use herbs for just about everything. So...when I have an issue, I first turn to my plant medicine, and my first line of defense is often a simple and delicious herbal tea.

Even though every person's body is different (some people run hot, some cold, some dry, and some are more moist), there are certain common herbs that can be generalized to support just about everyone's body for a variety of typical needs. Here is a helpful list of herb pairs you can easily combine to create some quick and easy herbal teas to make quickly, enjoy for pleasure, and to support your health!

10 Easy Herbal Teas to Create for Health & Enjoyment

These are all super simple and easy pairing recipes. In some cases, there may be three herbs or an extra optional herb, but for the most part, these are simple pairs you can quickly and easily make at home yourself!

1) Herbal Tea To Wake Up:

Yerba Mate, Peppermint, Matcha (optional)

Yerba Mate is a South American herb that contains caffeine. The biggest difference between the caffeine in Yerba Mate vs. coffee is that there is not quite as much of it, and it also acts differently on your body. The caffeine boost you get from yerba mate is actually more gentle, doesn't tend to spike, or give you the jitters.

Add a bit of Peppermint Leaves, and you have a delightful combo that will make you shine!  (These links are for Amazon.)

2) Herbal Tea to Support Detoxification:

Dandelion Root and Burdock Root

Two of my favorite herbs for supporting the liver and kidneys are Dandelion Root and Burdock Root. You can also add or substitute Nettle Leaf. All wonderful detoxifiers and blood purifiers!

(The above links are for Starwest Botanicals---my favorite place to buy bulk herbs.)

Here is a link to my own recipe for Detox Tea, if you like. It's great for supporting the health of your skin, liver, kidneys, blood---heck! Your whole body benefits.)

For some extra detox power, munch on a spoonful of Milk Thistle seeds too!

Simple, sweet Dandelion is a absolutely excellent liver cleanser.

3) Herbal Tea to Relax With:

Chamomile and Ginseng

Chamomile and Ginseng are quite a wonderful pair for de-stressing and calming. Chamomile, in combination with Ginseng is just great for your adrenal glands.

(I found this excellent Chamomile/Ginseng blend ready to go on Amazon, and although I haven't tried it, the herbs in it are perfect. I'm going to give it a shot!)

If you want to make a more involved tea, here is my recipe for Relaxation Tea. I love this stuff!

4) An Herbal Tea Recipe to Help With Occasional Constipation:

Senna and Clove

Senna has long been used and known for its gentle stimulating action on the intestines. That's why it's great for constipation! The clove adds flavor, plus enhances the stimulating action of the senna. It's a great pair!

But, if you don't want to blend your own, try this Senna Fitness Tea that includes White Tea from Amazon.

5) A Nutritious Tea for Vitamins & Minerals:

Rooibos & Black Tea (Green Tea for less caffeine)

One of my favorite reasons for drinking herbal teas, besides the medicinal actions, is that most herbs contain high levels of nutrients and minerals. Some are jam-packed with nutrition, and are almost like taking a daily multi-vitamin! This partnership is one of my favorites.

If you wanted to really power pack this twosome with even more nutrition (or cut back on the caffeine from the black tea), add or substitute Nettle Leaf.

(The links above are for Amazon, but you can get some great bulk herbs at Starwest Botanicals, and they also have tea blends ready made to choose from as well.)

6) An Herbal Tea for Natural Energy:

Green Tea & Mint

Green Tea and Mint....Just delicious! This is a very refreshing pair, perfect for summer time, too. I've made iced tea with this combination, and WOW! It's really nice on a hot day. Cooling and yummy.

Here is a blend you may enjoy that's pre-made from Stash

7) An Herbal Tea Remedy for Nausea:

Ginger & Fennel

Nobody likes an upset stomach. This herbal twosome will also help with flatulence and bloating too--so it's just nice to have around. Just in case. ;-)

Here's an Ayurvedic Antacid Stomach Relief Tea blend, if you don't want to DIY.

8) Herbal Tea to Support Great Digestion:

Ginger, Mint, & Lemon

This lovely threesome work together to soothe any digestive distress or just help things flow right along. Ginger and Mint, especially are the two most helpful for aiding digestion, especially after a heavy meal.

And here is a similar blend from the Tea Republic of China.

9) For Early Cold Symptoms:

Echinacea & Elder Flower-- Plus White or Green Tea

I wrote about how to stop a cold or flu from getting started when you feel those first little signs....and this easy duo is simple and easy to make. I recommend getting them from Starwest Botanicals, but if you want a blend already made here is an option from Traditional Medicinals on Amazon you should keep on hand!

10) Herbal Tea to Help You Get Some Sleep:

Chamomile & Passion Flower:

Two great herbs with mildly sedating effects: If you have trouble falling asleep, this soothing partnership will help you out. You can also substitute Hops for the Passion Flower too.

Or, you can try this similar Sleep Tea blend all ready to go! (This blend contains Valerian too, so it should be REALLY strong, unless you are the 1 out of 10 people who react to Valerian differently.) It looks like a very good tea combination for sleep.

If you prefer a tincture to a tea, here is a link to my Sleeping Tincture. I use it nightly and LOVE it.

11) Herbal Tea for Inflammation in the Body (Bonus Pairing)

You can find out all about this blend right here: Turmeric & Black pepper herbal tea.

Lovely sweet-scented Chamomile is perfect with Ginseng to calm OR with Passion Flower for a great night's sleep!
